Description of the genus

Hemiparasitic, annual, erect, glabrous herbs, turning black on drying. Leaves simple or pinnatisect with filiform segments. Inflorescence a raceme. with leaf-like bracts. Corolla white, cream, pink or pale blue; tube cylindric. Fruit a beaked capsule, usually strongly winged. Stamens 4, didynamous; anthers 1-thecal.

Worldwide: 6 species in tropical and South Africa, India and tropical Australia

Mozambique: 1 taxon.
