Description of the genus

Unarmed shrubs or trees. Leaves deciduous, opposite, imparipinnate. Inflorescences terminal panicles, fragrant opening at night. Calyx splitting on one side, beaked at the apex. Corolla campanulate; tube narrowly cylindric, exceeding the calyx. Stamens 4. Disk annular, thick. Ovary 2-locular. Capsule linear in outline, straight or curved, 2-valved, dehiscent. Seeds flat, winged.

Worldwide: c. 8 species in Asia and Australia and one in southern Mozambique only.

Mozambique: 1 taxon.
