Description of the genus

Unarmed shrubs or small trees. Leaves opposite. Stipules interpetiolar. Inflorescences in axillary fascicles. Sepals 5. petals 5, cucullate. Disk thick, fleshy. Ovary semi-inferior, 3-locular. Fruit a 3-lobed capsule.

Worldwide: 9 species in tropical Africa and Madagascar

Mozambique: 2 taxa.
