Caprivi: 2 km north of Bukalo on road to Katima Mulilo - grassy malapo.0Namibia (Caprivi Strip)1724D1 0Graminoid; Notes: Tall, erect, tufted, perennial grass, 1.5 m high when in flower. Culms erect, reed-like, terete, sturdy, dull blue-green, glabrous, node notched and purple banded. Leaf blade slightly revolute, apex tapered, glabrous, short, about 150 mm long. Ligule a fringe of dense white hairs, about 2 mm long. Leaf sheath longer than blade, about 20 cm long, circumculmate and imbricate at base, glabrous. Inflorescence a panicle, about 30 cm long, cuneate in broad outline, secondary axis whorled at base, slender, green to purple-tinted, undulate, about ascending along main axis, scabrous, 3 spikelets arranged terminally. Spikelets 2-flowered, awned. Awn long, about 80 mm long, twisted and bent, with minute white indumentum. Lemma with apex aristate, shorter, bent, 25 mm long, fine and glabrous. Lower glume ovate, up to 20 x 2,5 mm with conspicuous bulbous-based bristles along margins; upper glume with soft, minute, downy, white indumentum. Seed narrowly ellipsoid, 10 x 1 mm, dark brown, densely pubescent, apiculate, long yellowish hairy cluster at attachment point.-17.62500024.6250004
