Description:
Perennial herb, growing from a vertical rhizome, bearing small bulbs. Flowers solitary, up to 2.5 cm in diameter, mauve or pink, sometimes with a yellow or greenish centre; peduncle up to 9 cm long.

Habitat: A species of woodland and grassland in moist places.
Altitude range: Above 1000 m

Worldwide distribution: Angola, DRC, Uganda, Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozzambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
