This subspecies is distinguished by the lower surface of the leaves being shortly hairy on the reticulation and the areolae. Young leaves are not glutinous and petals are ciliate at the apex.
Notes: Although listed in De Silve, Izidine & Amude 2004: 46 (2004) it is highly unlikely this subspecies is found in northern Mozambique.
