Description:
Small shrub often with slender trailing or twining climbing stems up to 1.5 m long, growing from a woody rhizomatous rootstock. Leaves opposite, simple, obovate-elliptic, ovate or lanceolate, 1-5 cm long, pointed at the apex, dull green, fairly thinly textured, usually hairy on both surfaces, hairy pockets present in the axils of the main veins; margin entire. Flowers terminal on short lateral branches, solitary or several together, very sweetly scented. Corolla creamy-white; tube 13-26 mm long; lobes 6-9, linear to narrowly elliptic, 8-18 mm long. Fruit with 2 subglobose lobes, 5-8 mm long, black when ripe.
