Description:
Shrubby perennial, up to 1 m tall. Leaves lanceolate to narrowly ovate-elliptic 3.5-10.5 cm long, roughly hairy above, variously covered in capitate glands; margin toothed in most leaves. Flowers in axillary heads or solitary. Bracts ovate-elliptic, outer ones like the leaves, up to 6 cm long, inner bracts 1.5-2.5 cm more or less densely covered in capitate glands and 3-9 long narrow teeth along the margin. Corolla pale blue or mauve to purple, 22-45 mm long; lip 13-22 mm wide, distinctly 3-lobed.

Habitat: In miombo woodland and mopane woodland, on rocky slopes but also in sandy soils.
