Description:
Erect annual or perennial herb, up to 60 cm, with one to several unbranched stems from a woody base. Leaves opposite, narrowly linear to linear-lanceolate. Flowers in loose terminal inflorescences; Corolla lobes usually 4, cream to white above, purple brown or dirty yellow underneath and on the corolla tube; sweetly scented.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: amatymbica: named after the AmaThembu people in South Africa.
Habitat: Mostly found in recently burned grassland, on rocky slopes and along roadsides.
