Description:
Erect or somewhat scrambling shrub or small tree. Bark smooth, peeling, reddish to grey-brown; young branchlets covered in rusty hairs. Leaves crowded at the ends of branches, elliptic to ovate-elliptic, 2-7 cm long, shiny green above, velvety on when young, densely velvety below, particularly on the veins, hairy domatia present. Flowers in clusters at the ends of branches, showy, white, opening in the evening sweetly scented. Corolla tube up to 6 cm long, lobes c. 3 cm long, spreading. Fruit oblong, ribbed, c. 1.5 × 1 cm, densely hairy, crowned with the calyx lobes.

Derivation of specific name: delagoensis: of Delagoa Bay in South Africa
Habitat: In sand forest and woodland on sandy soils.
Altitude range: Up to 720 m

Worldwide distribution: Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
