| Description: |
Small shrub, 2–5 m tall; spines may be present, frequently developed into lateral branches; young branches with grey or light brown bark. Leaves paired along branches or sometimes tending to be borne near apex of stems, elliptic to broadly elliptic, 3.5–9 cm long, stiffly papery to somewhat leathery, mostly hairless but occasionally pubescent beneath; petiole 3–10 mm long; stipules 6–8 mm long. Flowers in the upper leaf axils of lateral branches; peduncles 2–8 mm long; pedicels up to 2 mm long. Corolla white; tube 2–4 cm long, covered with short appressed hairs outside; lobes elliptic to broadly elliptic, 2–2.8 cm long, with short appressed hairs on both surfaces. Style slightly shorter than corolla tube. Fruit ellipsoid or fusiform, c. 2.5 cm long, calyx limb persistent. |
