| Description: |
Shrub or small tree, sometimes a liana, 1.7–10 m tall, often armed with supra-axillary spines. Bark grey. Leaves well spaced along older branches, or less often restricted to new growth, broadly elliptic or sometimes ovate, 0.5–4 cm long, hairless, thinly textured, turning blackish when dry, 3–4 main pairs of lateral veins; ciliate pit-domatia sometimes present; petioles 3–6 mm long; stipules triangular, 2–3 mm long, sheathing at base. Flowers 5-merous, solitary, or 2-3 together; peduncle 10–14 mm long; pedicels 8–15 mm long, or 16–28 mm long in solitary flowers. Corolla greenish-white; tube 2.5–4 mm long, inside with a ring of hairs near the top and; lobes oblong-triangular, c. 2 mm long. Fruit narrowly obovate or obcordate in lateral view, 9–15 mm wide, more or less indented at the apex. |
