Description:
Suffrutex growing from a stout woody rhizome. Stems up to 7, unbranched, 3-4-angled, 20-100 cm tall, mostly hairless in this variety. Leaves 3-6 whorled, more or less broadly oblong-elliptic, 4-11 cm long, discolorous, paricularly when dried, hairless in this variety; petiole 1-2.5 mm long. Inflorescences in 3-9-flowered in the leaf axils. Corolla greenish-yellow to honey-coloured. Fruit 6-7 mm long subglobose.

Habitat: Open grassland, hillsides and Brachystegia woodland, on sandy soils.
Altitude range: 1200 - 1860 m

Worldwide distribution: DRC, Tanzania, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Eswatini andLimpopo, Mpumalanga, South Africa.
