Status: Doubtful
Description:
Erect to procumbent annual, perennial or shrubby herb. Stems up to 1.25 m tall. Leaf lamina of larger pair lanceolate to narrowly ovate or elliptic; margin toothed; lamina of smaller pair rhombic-triangular in outline, sharply toothed. Flowers arranged in capitate or elongated heads. Outer bracts with strong submarginal veins, narrowly ovate-elliptic. Corolla pale or bright blue or bluish purple, 17-54 mm long; limb obovate, distinctly 3-lobed. Anther appendage 1-7 mm long. Capsule 10-13 mm long.
Notes: Although this species is listed as fairly widespread in SABONET Report 30 (da Silva, Izidine & Amude, 2004: 18) this probably concerns a mistaken identity as it is not recorded for Mozambique in Vollesen (2000: 295) nor in Flora Zambesiaca 8-5: 90 (Vollesen 2013).
