Description:
Shrub or small tree. Leaves elliptic-oblong to oblanceolate, velvety. Flowers pendulous, yellow, outer petals up to 5 cm long with very wavy margins. Fruit ovoid, c. 6 × 4 cm, not segmented, blackish and finely wrinkled when ripe.
Notes: Only six collections were known from herbaria and the species had not been seen for more than 30 years. More recently it has been collected again in the Inhamatanga Forest area and on Bunga Inselberg in Gorongosa National Park.

Habitat: In woodland and thickets.
