Description:
Shrub or small tree. Leaves opposite, often bright red in winter, narrowly to broadly elliptic or obovate-elliptic, up to 9 cm long, mostly hairless; margin entire but wavy; petiole 2-7 mm long. There is often a flush of smaller new whitish leaves subtending the inflorescences, replaced by green leaves later on. Flowers, up to 50 in dense axillary heads 2.5-4 cm long, greenish- or creamy-white. Fruit up to 2 × 2 cm, 4-winged, yellowish with dark red wings.
