Description:
Shrub or small tree up to 5 m high. Bark thin, pale whitish-grey to brown. Branchlets grey to brown, quadrangular, ridged. Leaves sessile, opposite or in whorls of three on very young sapling branches, obovate to oblanceolate occasionally elliptic, 20–40 mm long, leathery, often with a pink tinged apical mucro, glossy green and hairless above, paler green beneath; margin entire, rolled under. Inflorescences terminal, compound, 21–48 mm long, finely velvety. Flowers 5-merous, pinkish when fresh, in groups of three. Sepals highly reduced. Petals 5, slightly thick and fleshy, spathulate, 1.2–4. mm long, hairless, pale yellow when dry, with minute scales on the inside and, densely pubescent on both surfaces. Fruit a globose fleshy drupe, c. 6 mm in diameter, hairless, pinkish, drying pale brown.

Derivation of specific name: chimanimani: of the Chimanimani Mts.
Habitat: In crags and gullies of quartzite sandstone and at the base large rocks on steep slopes.
Altitude range: 1500 - 1900 m

Worldwide distribution: Only known from the Chimanimani Mts of Zimbabwe and Mozambique.
Mozambique distribution: MS
