Description of the genus

Perennial herbs or small shrubs with twining stems; latex clear. Leaves simple, opposite, semi-succulent. Calyx of 5 free sepals. Corolla tube campanulate, lobes narrowly triangular, contorted in bud. Paired follicles lanceolate, smooth.
