Description:
Slender perennial climber. Stems wiry, softly hairy. Leaves digitately compound with 5 leaflets, tapering into a thread-like tip. Lfe blades usually folded upwards along the midrib. Flowers in pendulous spikes, ivory-white.
Notes: In low-altitude areas of Mozambique and Tanzania a very different form occurs with very narrowly oblong-elliptic to linear leaflets that are hairless except for some scattered hairs on the veins. This form was once described as Dioscorea schliebenii R. Knuth but is now, despite the considerable differences, not considered taxonomically separate.
