Description:
Erect annual, 0.1-1.2 m. Leaves opposite, the upper alternate; petiole to 2 mm; lamina 3-13 × 1-5.5 cm, elliptic, serrate, gland-dotted, both surfaces finely pilose-strigose or glabrescent. Involucre 3-8 × 4-10 mm. Phyllaries numerous, scarious; inner to c.8 mm, acuminate to aristate. Achenes 1.2-1.5 mm, narrowly obovoid-oblong, pale brown, with 4-5 low, broad ribs. Pappus of a few caducous barbellate setae 1-3 mm.

Habitat: In woodland, grassland and stream sides, often a weed of roadsides and disturbed ground.
