Description:
Shrub or small tree up to 6 m tall; branchlets greyish-brown, appressed woolly when young. Leaves suborbicular or broadly ovate, 2–8·5 cm long and wide, 5-7-veined from a usually cordate base, sparsely woolly or hairless above, appressed-stellate woolly beneath, becoming hairless; margin entire; petiole 1–6 cm long, woolly. Flowers in 1-3-flowered clusters, c. 4·5 cm in diameter, yellow, turning reddish with age, stellate-pubescent outside; pedicels 5–8 mm long, woolly. Epicalyx of 3 linear bracts c. 2·5 mm long. Calyx cup-shaped, 8–10 mm long, with 5 minute teeth. Fruit depressed-globose, 12 mm long and 15 mm wide, red, hairless.

Habitat: Wooded coastal vegetation.
