Description:	Root-parastite with an erect fleshy stem, 10–20 cm tall, swollen at base, yellow-brown to mauve-purple, hairless. Scales broadly ovate-lanceolate, up to 15 mm long, hairless, mostly concentrated towards the base. Inflorescence up to 10 cm long and upto 8 cm wide; bracts purplish, scale-like. Bracteoles subobovate to subspathulate, up to 14 mm, long. Calyx 1.6–1.8 mm long, with shalllow rounded lobes, slightly overlapping at base. Corolla cream-coloured, 4–5 cm long, erect at first, later curving outwards; lobes entire, broadly rounded.
Notes:	In Mozambique only known from a few records on the coast from the Mossuril District.

Habitat:	Often in saline areas in coastal vegetation or in dry stony areas.

Worldwide distribution:	Known from Senegal, Mediterranean North Africa and East towards India; Ethiopia, Socotra, Somalia, Kenya, Tanzania and northern Mozambique.
