Description:
Herbaceous perennial climber up to 5 m high, growing from a turnip-shaped tuber. Tendrils present. Leaves simple, ovate to triangular, 2-10 cm long, unlobed, more or less cordate at the 3-5-veined base; margin entire; petiole 5-55 mm long; 2 yellowish glands present at the base of the leaf blade, 1.5-3 mm in diameter. Inflorescences sessile or pedunculate axillary clusters, unisexual with 1-15 male flowers or 1-3 female flowers. Flowers pendent, tubular up to 75 mm long, pale yellowish or greenish. Capsule subglobose 4-5 cm long with a thick leathery skin.
