Description:
Much branched climbing shrub; branches terete, smooth; branchlets spreading, up to 13 cm long. Leaves not produced into a basal spur. Cladodes in dense crowded clusters, capillary, curved, angled, 6 – 9 mm long. (Source J. G. Baker (1898) in Flora of Tropical Africa, Vol 7; 421.)
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: petersianus: named after Professor Wilhelm Peters (1815-1863) of Berlin who collected in Mozambique in the early 19th century.
Habitat: Open Brachystegia woodland, secondary scrub woodland and relict forest.
Altitude range: 0 - 600 m
