Description:	Shrub or small tree to c. 7 m, sometimes scandent. Leaves with 4-6 pairs of leaflets: leaflets oblanceolate. Flowers mauve to purple. Pod 5-6 × 1 cm, flat, reddish-brown, velvety.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name:	usaramensis: of Uzaramo, Tanzania where the type was collected
Habitat:	Hot dry woodland at low altitudes
Altitude range:	Up to 1000 m
