Description:
Robust woody liane. Leaves more or less broadly ovate to ovate-oblong, 3-5-veined from the base, dark green, hairless or very sparely hairy below; apex tapering to rounded or acuminate with a distinct drip tip; margin entire; petiole with a swelling and a bend below the blade. Flowers in clusters on the old stems, unisexual on different plants, white, c. 2.5 mm in diameter. Fruit obovoid to nearly spherical, c. 6 mm in diameter.

Derivation of specific name: funifera: rope-like, referring to the climbing stems
Habitat: In riverine and other evergreen forest and moist areas in woodland.
