Description:
Low-growing succulent perennial with mottled greyish branches. Flowers with corolla lobes strongly reflexed, clasping the pedicel, chocolate-brown, mottled or striped with yellow at the tips of the lobes, rarely rusty-brown. Corona lobes yellow, spreading.
Notes: Known from several collections near the mouth of the Save River, more than 200km East of the known Zimbabwean localities.
Derivation of specific name: umbracula: umbrella-like, referring to the strongly reflexed corolla lobes.
Habitat: In leaflitter of Baikaea plurijuga or Androstachys johnstonii forest
Altitude range: 20 m (approx)
Flowering time:
Worldwide distribution: Zimbabwe and Mozambique. Restricted to the lower parts of the Eastern Highlands as well as the Save-Limpopo lowveld.
