Trees or shrubs. Leaves not stipellate, odd-pinnate. Inflorescence axillary racemes; bracts small, deciduous. Flowers large, showy, mostly pink, often appearing before the leaves; calyx short-campanulate, as broad as long, truncate, teeth 5, short and broad or obsolete; standard orbicular reflexed; wings oblong-oblanceolate, erect free, keel petals strongly arcuate above middle, united at apex. Fruit pods, linear, compressed, 2-valvate. Seeds sub-orbicular compressed. Worldwide: 5 species in tropical America. Mozambique: 1 cultivated taxon. |
