Description of the genus
Epiphytic or saxicolous plants; aerial stems repeatedly dichotomously branched with much reduced leaves. Sporangia 3-locular, each subtended by a small bifurcate bract and borne on the upper parts of the aerial branches. Derivation of name: psilom: bare, -tum: appearing to be; referring to the almost leafless character of the plants. Worldwide: 2 species, pantropical to warm temperate distribution. Mozambique: 1 taxon. |
