Description of the genus

Small to medium-sized trees or shrubs, without scales or stalked glands. Leaves opposite or subopposite (rarely alternate), petiolate, entire. Flowers bisexual and male in same inflorescence, (4-)5-merous, in subcapitate racemes. Petals (4-)5. Stamens (8-)10, 2-seriate. Fruit 2-5-winged.

Worldwide: 9 species in tropical Africa
