Description of the genus

Small evergreen tree. Leaves: lamina glabrous. Flowers in fascicles in leaf axils. Calyx of 5 sepals arranged in one whorl Corolla of 5 deeply 3-lobed petals united into a basal tube. Staminodes petaloid. Fruit a 1-seeded berry. Seed flattened.

Worldwide: 2 species in tropical Africa

Mozambique: 1 taxon.
