Description of the genus

Shrubs or coarse herbs. Leaves opposite, subovate, denticulate. Inflorescence cymose, axillary or terminal. Calyx 5-toothed, lobes linear-lanceolate, slightly overlapping in bud; corolla deciduous, tube cylindric, equalling to exceeding calyx, limb 5-lobed, spreading, subregular, lobes imbricate in bud, flat when open. Fruit bilocular, subglobose, indehiscent. Seeds numerous, ovoid, rugose.

Worldwide: Four species in southern Africa.

Mozambique: 1 taxon.
