Description of the genus

Small scandent herbs. Leaves simple, petiolate. Tendrils simple. Inflorescence consisting of few-flowered sessile fascicles, rarely solitary, pedicellate. Flowers small, yellow; receptacle-tube narrowly campanulate; lobes small, filiform; corolla-lobes 5, united near the base. Fruit ovoid, tuberculate or spiny, green or yellowish, dehiscent by expulsion of seeds from pedicel-scar. Seeds ovate in outline, compressed, with broad margins and depressed disk.

Worldwide: 1 species in Africa and Madagascar.

Mozambique: 1 taxon.
