Description of the genus

Annual or perennial herbs, hairy. Leaves compound, 3-13 foliate, leaflets opposite, entire. Racemes axillary, with many flowers, bracts fall early. Calyx lobes equal to or longer than the tube. Corolla pink, wings twisted outwards, appears to be tri-petalous. Pods reflexed, linear, may be laterally compressed; sutures prominent. Seeds up to 20, small round.

Worldwide: 10 species in Africa, one species pantropical
