Description of the genus

Shrubs or trees; Leaves Inflorescence flowers solitary or fascicled; leafy on axillary shoots and/or old wood; sessile or stalked. Flowers hermaphrodite; sepals 3, free or basally united; petals 6 in 2 whorls of 3, valvate; free, mostly thick and fleshy. Fruit clusters of monocarps, indehiscent. Seeds many, ellipsoid.

Worldwide: 16 species in tropical Africa.

Mozambique: 1 taxon.
