Lankesteria Lindl.

Description of the genus

Perennial or shrubby herbs or shrubs; stems subquadrangular. Leaves simple, opposite with entire or crenate margins. Flowers single, aggregated into cymes; bracts conspicuous. Calyx deeply divided into 5 unequal linear sepals. Corolla contorted in bud, with fine hairs on the outside; tube long, tubular. Ovary 2-locular, capsule 2-seeded. Seed covered in long hairs.

Worldwide: 7 species in tropical Africa and Madagascar

Mozambique: 1 taxon.
