Dioecious or rarely monoecious tree or shrub. Stipules present. Leaves alternate, simple, entire. Flowers in axillary bracteate dense few-flowered cymes or female flowers solitary. Male flowers: sepals (4-)5(-6), imbricate; petals 0; disk annular, shallowly lobed; pistillode 3-fid; stamens 5-7. Female flowers: disk cup-shaped; ovary 3-locular with 2 ovules per loculus; styles 3. Fruit spherical, ± tardily dehiscent. Seed 1 per loculus. Worldwide: 1 species in tropical Africa Mozambique: 4 taxa. |
