Description of the genus

Trees or shrubs. Leaves paripinnate, petiolate; leaflets 3–7-paired. Inflorescence an axillary racemoid or paniculate thyrse. Sepals 5, free nearly to the base; petals 0. Fruit 1-locular (by abortion), indehiscent or tardily and irregularly splitting from the base. Seed completely surrounded by anarillode.

Worldwide: Two species in tropical Africa.

Mozambique: 1 taxon.
