| Description: |
Erect or straggling perennial herb, growing from a creeping rhizome, rooting at the lower nodes, often clump forming. Leaves linear-lanceolate to oblong-elliptic, midrib prominent beneath. Stipular sheaths yellowish to brown, membranous, 1-4 cm long, setose outside and with an apical fringe of long stiff bristles. Flowers in multiple, pedunculate, lateral or terminal, spike-like racemes, white to pale pink, pinkish red when in bud. Fruit a shiny black nut. |
