Description:

Perennial herb or small shrub up to 1.5 m tall. Leaves broadly fan-shaped, up to  6 × 7 cm, 3-5-veined from the base, more or less densely pubescent to almost hairless; margin irregularly toothed in the upper half or sometimes shallowly 3-5-lobed; petiole up to 20 mm long. Flowers solitary in the upper leaf axils or rarely 2-3 together, yellow with a dark red or maroon centre, 6-8 cm in diameter. Epicalyx with up to 10 narrowly linear bracts 2-3.5 mm long.. Capsule ellipsoid, 10-12 mm long, appressed hairy. Seeds with brownish silky floss. |
