Description:

Perennial herb, growing from a vertical, underground rhizome. Leaves 1 or 2, up to 40 cm, broadly triangular, strongly cordate, paler and pubescent beneath, particularly on the veins. Inflorescence held in a cream-coloured spade, semi-subterranean, appearing before the leaves. |

Although not recorded in Flora Zambesiaca for Division MS this species is commonly found in woodland areas and on termite mounds there. Eg. in Gorongosa National Park and Coutada 12, Cheringoma. |
