Description:
|
Often multi-stemmed perennial herb. Stems ascending to erect, up to c. 80 cm long, sometimes decumbent and rooting at the nodes, often with very short shoots bearing small leaves. Leaves opposite, ovate-lanceolate, up to c. 8 cm long, hairless or with a few scattered short whitish hairs. Stipules with 3-5 hair-like bristles, 4-8 mm long. Inflorescence a diffuse pyramidal to spheroidal panicle, up to 30 cm long with wiry peducles and pedicels. Corolla small, whitish, cream or greenish, sometimes tinged reddish or purplish outside. Fruit blackish with mericarps c. 2 mm long, oblong to obovate, more or less densely warty. |
