Description:
Shrub or small tree. Bark smooth and creamy-white, the trunk twisted and branching low; leaves alternate, hairless, leathery, almost circular, veins yellow-green conspicuous. The figs are borne singly or in small groups, axillary or on bare branches, green with cream spots, turning red when ripe.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: abutilifolia: with leaves like an Abutilon
Habitat: In rocky areas of bushveld and woodland. It typically scrambles over rocks, growing from cracks and crevices, eventually splitting the rocks.
Altitude range: Up to 1360 m
Flowering time:Aug - Feb
Worldwide distribution: Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Eswatini, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
