Description:
Twigs grey, densely covered in forked hairs. Leaves: lamina elliptic to elliptic-oblong, crisped-pubescent, greyish. Flowers 1-2 in axils. Calyx 4.5-6 mm long, tubular. Corolla 4.5-6 cm long, yellow or yellow-green; tube slightly swollen at the base, then constricted and funnel-shaped above; lobes narrowly linear-lanceolate, spreading or reflexed, Berry red, obovoid.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: menyharthii: after Lászlò Menyhárth (1849–1897), Austro-Hungarian missionary and plant collector.
Habitat: Usually in hotter, drier valleys. Hosts include Erythroxylum, Boscia, Olea, mangroves and others.
Altitude range: 20 - 1400 m
Flowering time:Feb - Jul
Worldwide distribution: Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
