Description:
Notes: Although quite common and widespread in the Mozambique part of the Chimanimani Mts, the specimen in the images appears to be the first confirmed record for Mozambique.
Derivation of specific name: whyteanum: named after Alexander Whyte (1834-1908), Scottish plant explorer, and botanist who collected plants in Liberia, Kenya, Malawi and Uganda. He was Curator of the Entebbe Botanic Garden in Uganda.
Habitat: Grassland, rocky places with Xerophyta sp. and scrubby margins of forest.
Altitude range: 1400 - 2400 m
Flowering time:
Worldwide distribution: Apparently restricted to Mount Mulanje in Southern Malawi and the Chimanimani Mountains of Mozambique and Zimbabwe.
