Description:
Bushy, perennial herb, up to 1 m tall with wiry branches; young branches green and woolly, soon becoming hairless and older branches brownish-yellow to purplish. Leaves often in clusters embedded in long woolly hairs, linear, subterete, 6-32 mm long, mostly hairless, sometimes somewhat woolly. Inflorescences much elongating up to 25 cm with widely separated flowers, white, dull yellow or greenish; tepals narrowly lanceolate, 8-10 mm long; stamens 6-7 mm long at anthesis, more or less equalling the perianth, white or pinkish; anthers very long and narrow, c. 4 mm long, exceeding the filaments. Fruiting partial inflorescences forming a fluffy ball c. 1.5-2 cm in diameter.
