Description:
Robust perennial climber or scrambling shrub. The leaves are ovate-elliptic, tapering to a distinct, mucronate drip-tip; the leaf-base often asymmetrical. Inflorescences in long, erect racemes, white to creamy-green.
Notes: The plants are poisonous and are known to cause deaths among sheep and cattle, which browse the leaves when grass is scarce.
Derivation of specific name: dodecandra: with 12 stamens.
Habitat: In a variety of habitats.
