Prostrate or procumbent, glabrous annual, usually somewhat fleshy herb. Stems up to 60 cm, sometimes tinged pink. Leaves variable, ranging from linear to oblanceolate-obovate. Inflorescences in small umbels. Flowers creamy-white to pinkish; stamens 5.
Notes: See G. africana for comparison.
Derivation of specific name: pharnaceoides: resembling the genus Pharnaceum in the Molluginaceae.
Habitat: A weed of cultivation, in open woodland and on river banks, often associated with sandy soils.
