Description:
Usually a shrub with long drooping branches, sometimes scrambling or climbing. Leaves alternate, lighter underneath, margins serrate tipped with small black glands; young branches reddish-brown; flowers axillary in dense clusters, small, greenish-yellow.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: rhamnoides: resembling a species of Rhamnus
Habitat: A species of evergreen forest margins and rocky outcrops in associated grassland.
Altitude range: 900 - 2300 m
Flowering time:Aug - Oct
Worldwide distribution: Burundi, DRC, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal and Eastern Cape, South Africa.
Mozambique distribution: Z,MS
Growth form(s): Climber, tree, shrub over 2 m.
