Description:
Dense, much-branched shrub up to c. 2 m tall. Leaves 3-foliolate, clustered on short lateral shoots; leaflets 8-10 mm long oblanceolate, hairless; margin entire, not distinctly rolled under. Flowers solitary, axillary, unisexual, greenish-white. Fruit a small ridged capsule, c. 2 mm long.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: serpyllifolia: leaves like Serpyllum or Wild Thyme ( Thymus serphyllum).
Habitat: Along streambanks and margins of forest and ericoid scrub, often forming dense colonies.
Altitude range: Up to 1700 m
Flowering time:Apr - Jul
Worldwide distribution: Mozambique, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
Mozambique distribution: MS
Growth form(s): Shrub under 2 m.
